A Flying Aces Club Squadron

Balsa, tissue, and rubber power.

Building and flying free-flight model airplanes the way it's been done for a century — rubber, CO2, and hand-launch power, no radio, just a good eye for trim.

ABOUT THE SQUADRON

Free flight, kept alive

Since 1939, Cloudbusters has kept this part of model aviation's history alive. Our members come from all walks of life — engineers, entrepreneurs, coaches, tradespeople, artists — united by one thing: a love of building and flying model aircraft.

Getting started

You don't need experience, tools, or a workshop to try this. Here's how most members got in.

1

Come watch a contest

Free, no sign-up needed. Bring questions — someone will always stop to answer them.

2

Build a simple first model

Ask any member for a beginner kit recommendation — or start with the Phantom Flash ROG, a laser-cut rubber-power kit that builds in about an hour and is contest-ready out of the box. Building along with a video? A step-by-step build tutorial series, from ribs to first flight, is coming soon.

3

Fly it with the group

Bring your first build to a contest day or an informal fly session. Members will help you trim and wind it.

4

Join when you're ready

No pressure or timeline. Join whenever the hobby feels like yours.
